When requesting records, keep the request narrow. For a jail release tied to probation, ask for the public booking summary, time and manner of release under California Government Code section 7923.610, release date and time, release reason, court case number, and any public note showing release to probation, supervision, or court order. For the supervision order itself, ask the court for the sentencing minutes, probation order, or certified disposition. For private supervision details, expect restrictions because probation files can include confidential assessments, victim information, treatment records, juvenile material, addresses, and case-management notes.

About San Benito Probation

San Benito County Probation is not a jail and should not be described as one. It is a county department connected to the local courts and community supervision. The research record says the department supervises adult and juvenile offenders who have been granted probation, recommends sanctions to the court, enforces court orders, aids victims, and offers corrective support. That makes it relevant to released-inmate research, but only after a court order or supervision status connects the person to probation.
